The new line of Phrema design rugs was born from an idea of Moreno Rossi.
Why did I decide to create some rugs starting from my own drawings or taking inspiration from ancient symbols?
There are a lot of professional persons who follow trends and customer requests, to turn to. But for this line I have thought of something personal and different.
I am not a designer and I did not go to an Art School, but I have felt the need to express myself and to convey something since I was a child. Sensations, emotions, moods…..First through painting as a self- taught person, and then, since I fell in love with the world of carpets, through the massages that these handmade articles gave and can give today.
A way to free my ideas through colours, through the tactile sensations that some types of materials transmit, through the symbols that have always accompanied the human being. Or, more simply, a primary need such as eating or drinking.
A world of colours, symbols, materials and sensations that Phrema brings to light to allow anyone to share Moreno’s passion and dive into this magic reality.
The first Phrema Design carpet was born from the reinterpretation of an ancient South American Wary fabric. In particular the fragment of a tunic exhibited at the Met in New York.
For this product the emphasis has been placed on the colours, modifying the shades and simplifying the represented figures.
The humans and the animals depicted, retain their shape but lose details merging into the colourful texture of Tibetan yarns to give life to a set of geometric shapes intertwined in a game of chromatic contrasts.
The final result is an important rug in silk and wool made with a Tibetan knot, soft to tauch and vibrant with warm and cold tones.
Suitable for rooms such as living rooms or lounges, because it is very resistant but elastic and therefore durable over time.
About 1 cm thick, it has light parts in shaved silk slightly lower to obtain particular lighting effect and highlight the designs.
